Sculpted Four Evangelists – Symbols of the Holy Gospels

The defining artistic feature of this 1172 Catholic Ambo is its sculpted religious imagery inspired by the Four Evangelists.

Each Evangelist is traditionally represented by a distinctive Christian symbol:

• St. Matthew – The Winged Man or Angel: Symbolizing the humanity and Incarnation of Jesus Christ.

• St. Mark – The Winged Lion: Representing strength, courage, and the proclamation of Christ's kingship.

• St. Luke – The Winged Ox: Associated with sacrifice and Christ's priestly mission.

• St. John – The Eagle: Representing the elevated spiritual vision of his Gospel.

These symbols reflect the importance of the four Gospels within the Church and make an especially meaningful decoration for the ambo, where the Word of God is proclaimed.

Traditional Lost-Wax Bronze Casting

The 1172 incorporates lost-wax bronze casting, a traditional process long associated with fine sculpture and sacred artwork.

This artistic technique allows detailed religious imagery, decorative textures, and expressive forms to be reproduced in bronze.

The manufacturer also specifies resin as a construction material, contributing to the ambo's overall design.

The resulting combination of sculptural craftsmanship and traditional materials gives this church lectern a distinctive and dignified appearance.

Available Decorative Finishes

Choose from several manufacturer-listed finish options to coordinate with your parish sanctuary.

Bronzed Finish: A rich, traditional metallic appearance that enhances the sculptural reliefs.

Patinated Finishes: Available in various colors, offering flexibility for different church architectural styles.

Silver Finish: A distinctive metallic alternative for churches seeking a lighter decorative appearance.
